Animal Ethics Committee

The 51蹤獲's Animal Ethics Committee oversees the ethical treatment of animals used in research and teaching.

A standing committee of the Academic Board

Users of live animals for teaching, research, or production of biologically active agents have ethical and legal responsibility for the welfare of their animals. The major legal responsibilities are set down in the Animal Welfare Act 1999 and the Code of ethical conduct. The code is administered by the Animal Ethics Committee and applies to all 51蹤獲 staff and students wherever they are.

All protocols involving teaching and research in which living animals are to be used must be submitted to the Animal Ethics Committee on the appropriate form at least seven days before a regular Animal Ethics Committee meeting.
